Can someone tell me if my analysis of the following sentence is correct ?

We are trying to put ball on the table

We - subject

put - linking verb

ball - object

on - preposition

the - noun marker

table - ??

Are - ??

What are "are", "trying", "to", "table" in the sentence

Is "are" a auxiliary verb ?

Hello,
This is my analysis for your sentence:
First I think the sentence should be corrected:
We are trying to put ball on the table
We are trying to put ( a/the ball ) or ( balls/the balls ) on the table.

We: subject
are trying: verb into the present continuous tense
( are: auxiliary+ try: stem+ ing )
to put: verb into the infinitive
a ball: object
on: preposition
the: difinite article
table:common noun referring to a place

Hi Salah,

Your analysis seems to be on the dot to me.
I was particularly not clear about "are" and your answer answers that.
The other doubt was about the placement of the article before ball.
I had left it out purposefully so that someone can point out the mistake.
In fact main doubt was about the placement of article, and your answer makes that too very clear ..

Regards
