I am trying to draw two trees from one sentence.

Two sisters reunited after 18 years in a check out counter.

The problem I am running into is that I have PP-PP PP I am not sure this is possible,I know PP-P NP & NP-NP PP is possible but not PP . Can someone help me with this excercise?

This sentence is awkward. Were they standing in line at the checkout for 18 years? That's what the sentence says.

While standing in line at the checkout, two sisters reunited after not seeing each other for 18 years.

Yes, the sentence is ambiguous. It can mean they reunited after spending 18 years in a checkout counter or that they reunited at a checkout counter 18 years later. I am just confused with how to draw a tree for this.


I am wondering if the rule PP can produce PP PP meaning is this possible PP- PP PP? because there are PP's in the sentence.
