| As my mother language is not English, I could use some help for analyzing this sentence: I have to analyise this sentence in terms of sentence and phrase analysis. P.S. Is this a good example for a NP clause? the sentence is taken from SparkNotes: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Chapter One: The Worst Birthday Phrase analysis: Harry (NP) survived (VP) Voldermort's curse (NP) but (?) was left (VP) with (pP) a (AP) lightening-bolt shaped (adjP) scar (NP) on (pP) his forehead (NP), beneath (AP) his (NP) unruly dark (AdjP) hair (NP) and (VP) above (AP) his (NP) usually broken (AdjP) glasses (NP). Sentence analysis: Harry (O) survived (P) Voldermort's curse (OC) but was left (P) with a lightening-bolt shaped scar (S ???) on his forehead, beneath his unruly dark hair and above his usually broken glasses (Adjunct of place). Thank you for answering and taking your time. |
