Thank you for passing >> This phrase is largely used in forums when someone posts a thread and many visitors read his topic . When this one wants to thank those who read his topic , he uses the phrase
Thank you for passing ...or Your passing is appreciated
My Q is that
Is using the word passing here correct
If not , what is the alternative
What did native speakers say in that case

Sounds like a Gallicism, or a non-standard variant. We'd normally use a phrasal verb, like "passing by," or simply write "visiting."

Your passing is appreciated sounds like it means your death is welcome.

It sounds like you are thanking someone for dying or for going around your car in traffic. "Thank you for coming by" or "thank you for looking" sounds better to me.

It's sounds like you're thanking someone for their death, as said above. Since that's not really a logical meaning, it seems like a typo for "posting."

Could it be a term from Contract Bridge? Passing is not bidding i.e not raising the bid.

One of the major differences between a mistake and an error is the frequency of the error. Since Sirhasan says the expression is widely used, it can't be a mistake in typing.

The users may be using a secondary meaning of pass wrongly:
1. Hand over.
2. Transfer.
maybe to mean give, send, post.
