The concept of disappearing: verbs

The image on the screen slowly disappeared/faded away/slip away/petered out and I realized it was a computer virus.

I suppose these 4 verbs are correctly used in this sentence and they mean the same thing, but my question is: Which is more natural for a native? One in particular or what?

I wouldn't use 'petered out, or 'slipped away' here; I'd ue either of the first two.

Of the options, I would personally say, 'The image on the screen slowly faded away and I realised it was a computer virus.' 'Disappeared' would also fit, though having said 'slowly' I think 'faded away' goes well with this.
