Default I had difficulty finding the book.

    Hello,

I understand this sentence "I had difficulty finding the book." means it was not easy for me to find the book.

How about this sentence, "I have difficulty accepting the offer."

When I am not sure if I will accept the offer so I am contemplating the matter, is this sentence to be changed like "I have difficulty to accept the offer."?

I mean, in most text, I have found the expressin 'have difficulty(trouble) in --ing', but is it also possible to use ' 'have difficulty + to-infinitive?

    thanks in advance.

    You could easily say
I have difficulty accepting that offer
    or

I find it difficult to accept that offer.

    I hope it helps

I have found these sentences searching in the Corpus.

    - most people have no moral difficulty to accept it
    - we have had some difficulty to reconcile.
    - and was at some difficulty to cover things up
    - a major difficulty to determine the number of people..

so, may I ask you a favor again?

Some of those examples sound strange to me- especially the third. The second is different- they had to reconcile something (a difficulty).
