groups of four
Divide the class into groups of about four to discuss the issues.
Does it mean that there are four groups altogether or does it mean that there are many groups, each of which consists of four students?
Thanks very much!

If I want to mean there are four groups altogether, then what should I say?
Is it simply " Divide the students into four groups"?
