My favourite food is French fries and soda.

Does the word is here correct in the sentence?

is --> are?

I would change and to with.

Yes, is is correct. The subject of the verb is food.

My favourite food is French fries and a soda.

Note that in American English, a soda means 'any carbonated (fizzy) non-alcoholic drink'. In British English we say instead 'a can/bottle of pop/Pepsi/Doctor Pepper/Sprite/Irn Bru/Dandelion and Burdock'.

We also have cans or bottles of soda water, which is carbonated water flavoured with sodium bicarbonate and mainly drunk medicinally or as a mixer/dilutant for spirits like whisky and brandy.

Ha, I just drank a bottle of this last night! Fairly difficult to find here in the US, but I've grown fond of its funky taste. Fentimans also makes a damn fine ginger ale, which is also difficult to come by stateside.

I notice that Fentimans refers to a couple of their other beverages as 'colas', a term also used in the US for carbonated, sugary beverages.

"soda" (or whatever you choose to call it) isn't food. It's a drink so I don't think the original works. You could say:

My favourite meal is French fries with soda.

(Bear in mind that most people wouldn't consider that a meal!)
