Dear teachers,

According to Collins Cobuild, the use pattern of "inform" can be either "inform +noun +of +noun" or "inform +noun +that".

I would like to know if I can say "Please inform this Committee (noun) of whether the project is complete (noun phrase)", rather than "Please inform this Committee whether the project is complete"? If no, why? Thanks.

Whether is not a noun, so I wouldn't use of.

How about "inform on"?
