"Every pupil and every teacher are invited to the concert."

I think this sentence should use 'is' instead of 'are' because of the word 'every'. Or, can both be used?

For me the correct is to use "are".

If I am correct you have two different things

(Every pupil)--> is the first one which refers to something either in singular or in plural
and
(Every teacher)-->is the second one which refers to something either in singular or in plural.

I do not test here what is inside the brackets because either if the meaning is in singular or in plural you have to use "are" as you have two "things"

For example
cat (singular) and dog (singular) are animals.

I am not sure that I have managed to make my point clear.
