"age(s) 7 and 9" in British English

Hi,

The following use of "age(s)" is okay in American English. Is it okay in British English as well?

a. The children ─ ages 7 and 9 ─ were found near their hometown of Manicoré by a local resident on Thursday.

b. The children are ages 7 and 9.

c. He is age 7.

I'd appreciate your help.

[a] is just about possible in BrE, though aged would be more natural.
The others are not natural.

Or simply The children - seven and nine - were found....

Mary: They are seven and nine.

That's more likely for the second one.

Frank: How old is Billy?
Mary: He's seven.

That's more likely for the third one.

Like 5jj, I would expect to see "The children, aged seven and nine, were found ...".
