apply it for

I wanted to know if I could use the word "apply" in the following situation.

A student pays his tutor 1000 (instead of 750) roubles at the end of a lesson. The tutor hasn't got the change. So the tutor says: "We'll apply it (the difference) for our next lesson."

Could that work? Or we can only say "We'll count it towards our next lesson", can't we?
Would "apply it to our next lesson" work here?

I would say any of the following:

"We'll apply it [strike]for[/strike] to our next lesson."
"We'll count it towards our next lesson"
"We'll save it for our next lesson."

This would sound unnatural to me.
