Have I made any mistakes?

At the age of twenty-five, Richard Smart, a biologist, found himself at a crossroads of his life: whether he should move to an institute in the US, where he would receive more funds for his research and earn higher wages than in Ireland, but risk feeling lonely and a stranger, or stay in his homeland, struggling with the funds and low wages, but be close to his family and friends.

I've underlined where to make changes.

I believe the changes should be this:

1. at a crossroads in his life
2. like a stranger
3. with the finances
