Black coffee

Hello,

Is it true that "black coffee" begins to be politically incorrect in GB and it is better to say "coffee with milk"?

Black coffee is coffee without milk. I've never heard of "black coffee" being politically incorrect.

As far as I know, "coffee with milk" is called latte or caffè latte.

Yes. It was my fault. It should have been "coffee without milk".

An Americano is not the same as an old-fashioned black coffee. The latter is brewed with some kind of bulk equipment like an urn; the former is espresso stretched with hot water. In France it's called by the charming (to me) name café allongé, which I like to mentally translate as "elongated coffee".

The original purpose of an espresso machine was to make coffee to order, which is what espresso means in Italian. Such coffee is likely to taste better than coffee which was brewed some time ago, regardless of the brewing method.
