This is an entry from my diary. Please check it and correct any mistakes.

I've been growing sunflowers on my balcony and they are almost reaching the ceiling. I thought they could grew that high only in the field and it's amazing that they can do so in pots. Last week, my mum bought some corn seeds and we will grow them on our balcony! I've watched some videos about tips on planting home-grown corns. I hope I can get at least one corn.

Say: "I've been growing sunflowers on my balcony, and they almost reach the ceiling."

I'm guessing there's another balcony above yours, and that's the ceiling you're talking about.

Try: "I've watched some videos about growing corn."

On your balcony? 😮

I think you mean to say you hope the plant will sprout some ears of corn.

You must have a really big balcony.
🙂

Yes. Another apartment above mine.

🙂
No. Just use a bigger pot. I only sow two or three seeds.

Well, I'm glad you didn't ask me any "why" questions. 😀

Now I'm curious. Could you post a picture of your balcony showing the sunflower plant?

You were surprised that the sunflower grew so tall. Well, you won't be surprised next time.
😀

See above.

@Maybo Thanks to Teechar I now have the word I didn't think of before.

The kernels (the part that you eat) grow on a cob (corn cob).

Corn and peas are my two favorite vegetables. (You can throw carrots in there to make it three.)

As for the "why" questions, that's probably the hardest thing for me, but if somebody does ask one I might answer it if I can.
