What’s the difference between “wouldn’t close” and “couldn’t close”?

"Couldn't" suggests that the suitcase was trying to close itself. It's more appropriate to use it as the main verb attached to a person who is trying to do something. We use "won't/wouldn't" with inanimate objects, though.

The suitcase won't close.
I can't close the suitcase.
