Do you know what bacon is?

It's a joke. You can't grow bacon in the field and "bacon seeds" do not exist. ;-)

So can you tell me what this phrase is trying to say ? Thanks!

As you were already told, it is a joke. One can grow one's own food if it is corn, tomatoes, peppers, etc. But one cannot grow meat. There are no seeds for pigs (bacon), cattle (beef) or chicken.

We are expected to laugh at the stupidity of the person who thinks bacon grows from seeds.

I don't think so. I think someone would say this to be facetious. Knowing full well that bacon doesn't come from seeds. Poking fun at his own diet and the idea that one should grow one's own food.

Plus, growing your own food is usually because it is better for your health to eat vegetables. Growing bacon would not accomplish that.
