In BrE, if a letter starts "Dear Sir" or "Dear Madam", it should finish "Yours faithfully". If it starts "Dear Mr/Mrs/Miss/Ms + surname", it should finish "Yours sincerely".

Thank you, teechar.

Note my corrections to your capitalisation and punctuation. In addition, please note that there is no need to write a new post to say "Thank you". Simply click on the "Thank" button in the bottom left-hand corner of any post you find helpful. It saves time for everyone.

The title of your letter should read: Request for Change of Job Designatiion.

I am curious how the label, "office staff", on the salary records affects you. For all you know, the generic name could have been used for administrative purpose only, to distinguish office staff from say, factory staff. It probably would matter if your job designation is not correctly stated in official correspondence, organization chart, name tags, etc.
