Do diving and scuba diving have the same meaning?

Would you help me with the difference between scuba diving and diving, please. I checked it in the Longman but I couldn't find the difference.

Are you sure you cannot get it from the dictionary?

Diving is jumping into the water from above.
Scuba (self-contained underwater breathing apparatus) diving is moving around underwater. But scuba divers normally talk about diving to mean scuba diving.

Free diving is different from scuba diving, but both could be referred to as diving.

I checked it in the Longman but I couldn't find the difference.
Longman is not the best dictionary. Click here and bookmark the OneLook site for future reference.

No, diving and scuba diving have different meanings. Diving is a general term that refers to any type of plunging or Jumping into the water, while scuba diving specifically refers to diving using breathing apparatus. This Scuba diving lore website is a type of diving that uses self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (SCUBA) to allow divers to breathe underwater. SCUBA diving typically requires more training than other types of diving, such as snorkeling.
