Hello Teachers,
I don't know in the following context, present is verb or noun .

One commonly pasteurized product is milk. By decreasing the
amount of dangerous bacteria present, milk can be made safer to consume.

Thanks.

I am not a teacher.

It is an adjective. It means,
"By decreasing the amount of dangerous bacteria that are there.."

You mean : 3 : to give or bestow formally
That doesn't make sense at all .

No. She means:

[h=2][SUP]3[/SUP]pres·ent[/h] adjective \ˈpre-z[SUP]ə[/SUP]nt\: not past or future : existing or happening now
—used to say what someone or something is now
: at the particular place or event that is being referred to

Just scroll down the page to find that.

If present is an adjective so You mean the sentence is something like that :
One commonly pasteurized product is milk. By decreasing the amount of dangerous bacteria that is present, milk can be made saferto consume. It also lasts longer after it’s been pasteurized ....
