Hello,
I read a book, Repacking Your bags and found this paragraph:
"I was successful, comfortable in my way of life. Surprisingly - to me - everything skidded to a halt. A series of wake-up calls shifted my mental furniture around and permanently rearranged it. First one, then a second parent died. I divorced. A work partner died. My son left for college. My worl caved in. I had to tunnel out."
Please advise what "mental furniture" here mean. Thank you.
