If I want to say, you should make a decision and be in charge of your life, can I say,

''You should get behind the wheel''. I'm not sure which proverb to choose.

Thank you for your reply.

"You should get behind the wheel" is not a proverb.

An idiom that might fit your requirements would be "Make your bed and lie in it".

But, according to Barb it means, ''You have created the situation, and now you have to live with the results''. So you use this proverb when a person deserves someting bad result.
I heard ''get behing your wheel'' as find your way in life, am I right?

Sincerely,

take your life in your hands from TheFreeDictionary
to do something very dangerous I think you take your life in your hands every time you get on a plane.

Where did you hear it? As I said in my first post, it's not an English proverb (it doesn't even fit the pattern of a proverb. It might be considered some kind of idiom.)

When I called ETS.When you have to wait, the answering machine says something. I'm not sure, maybe it is a cart. Sorry.

Thank you anyway.

This is the default reading, probably.

I was leading my poor old grandmother up the garden path.

Does this necessarily mean I deceived her?

EDIT: Take charge of your own life?

I think you need to start a new thread for this query. I can't see any connection to the original poster's original question.

You are very concerned about what I should do. I am getting more frightened of you than I am frigthened of my wife.

I'm concerned that by attaching your new query to someone else's post, you won't get as many answers as you're hoping for as people will think the thread is still about "get behind the wheel".

Every man should be frightened of his wife!!! ;-)
