So, how would you use 'wed' as a verb?
Well, if you
had to use it, it would be
correct in Br Eng, though unusual, to say 'We got wed' or 'We were wed'; it's quite quaint - either archaic or regional or both.
Wed is an interesting verb. It is like 'cut' in that its three forms are all the same. But there is also a weak/regular past participle*, not used with reference to marriage. A person who is - for example - 'wedded to his mobile phone', is strongly attached to it.

PS *It would be tempting - and indeed some grammarians might think it would be preferable - to hold that 'wedded' in this sense has no connection with the verb 'wed'. But, although there has been no ceremony linking the person and the thing, it seems to me that the sense of being in some way 'bound' justifies my use of the term 'past participle'.
