Difference between "is in progress" and "in progress"

Hi,

Below is a tool for deleting a database, the progress shows "Database deletion in progress".

I want to know what is the difference between "Database deletion in progress" and "Database deletion is in progress".
Sometimes, I will use "is in progress", and sometimes just "in progress", are both correct?

'In progress' is the status of the operation. When you say 'it is in progress' you're saying that it has that status. They're structurally distinct, but they refer to the same situation,

(The only possible exception is when a speaker is sceptically quoting the status message. 'The deletion is "in progress", but you know what that means, so don't hold your breath.)

Short messages, including in technical contexts such as this, often omit the verb.

There is no difference in meaning.

It depends on the context that you use them in.
