Hello!

Here is the sentence:
I was outspoken in my criticism of the plan and this offended my hosts.
I can't understand the meaning of the word 'hosts' properly. Does it relate to 'owner'/'manager'?

Thank you.

Have you loked up "host" in a dictionary?

Does it relate to 'owner'/'manager'?

Not to me- they could be people providing dinner or something the person or giving them accommodation.

Ksenia, this is why we keep asking for context.

'Here is the sentence' is not good enough. It doesn't give us sufficient information to answer your question properly.

Rover_Ke, unfortunately, there is no any context. It's just a single sentence.

Where did you find this solitary sentence, Ksenia?

Business English (Advanced Student's book) on p. 102.

Are you sure there was no context? What was the point of the lesson?

Bhaisahab, yes, I am sure. It's Unit 1 (Connections). There is also the practice file (some exercises to check yourself).
Ex. 2 (One should replace the words/phrases in italic with the adjectives from the list. Make any changes that are necessary.), Sentence #3. I was open and honest______in my criticism of the plan and this offended my hosts.

That is the context, Ksenia.
