Here is the sentence:
I was outspoken in my criticism of the plan and this offended my hosts.
I can't understand the meaning of the word 'hosts' properly. Does it relate to 'owner'/'manager'?

Not to me- they could be people providing dinner or something the person or giving them accommodation.

Ex. 2 (One should replace the words/phrases in italic with the adjectives from the list. Make any changes that are necessary.), Sentence #3. I was open and honest______in my criticism of the plan and this offended my hosts.
