Put a sock in it:- is nothing but to say SHUT UP

in this regard if I want say someone this above idiom,how would I have to say,may I have to say like this
"YOU PUT A SOCK IN IT" OR i CAN JUST SAY "PUT A SOCK IN IT". PLEASE AWAITING OF YOUR ANSWER

"Put a sock in it" is sufficient, but you need to know tht it is not very polite.
 
It is also strictly BrE. It would not likely be understood in North America.

When I was growing up, Roger from the Nickelodeon show 'Doug' said this a lot. "Put a sock in it, Funnie!"

I beg to differ. It's used in the US. If not nationally, then certainly in areas where I've lived.
