I mean in America. you are right Rover but I can't get the exact meaning yet. I wonder every student should go to the college and then to the university or they can decide either to go to college or uni. I want to know what kind of degree is offered in a college? Thanks

I believe that in the USA many people use college and university synonymously. Or at least they used to when I was young. American colleagues?

Generally, a college offers a four year degree (Bachelors's degree) while a university offers the bachelor's as well as advanced degrees (Master's and PHDs).

I got my BS from an "Institute" that had neither "college" nor "university" in its name and then got my master's degree from a school with "college" in its name.

Note we say "school" for college/university here too.
