Being more grammatically correct is something like being a little bit pregnant - it is either one or the other. I don't understand the purpose of "now" in your examples. "whenever" covers all possible times, so "now" is not only incorrect, it is also not needed. I believe that what you are trying to write is - "Whenever I see something written in German it reminds me of World War II".
 
Do you mean "These days" when you say "Now"?
