Dear teachers
can anybody help me to find a good explanation of problematic words connected with ´looking at things´- such as stare, glance, peek, gaze..
I am aware of some differences, but there are still doubts...
I am not asking you to write long texts about it, since some of you have probably done it hundred times...I would just appreciate a link...a hint where to find it...
Thank you for your help. KP

Thanks Jaskin...
But what I was looking for was a more detailed overview of such words..
I believe that duration is the main difference but there is more- there is positive or negative connotation of these words...which I can´t feel..
Thanks KP

I am not a native speaker nor a teacher.

To best use of the word "stare", in my opinion, is when you don't want to be polite and want to act "tough & rough" :).

So, the phrase: "Stop starring at me!" is more rude than "Please, stop looking at me!"

stare = the longest period of time
glance = the shortest period of time (something like "mrknout, hodit letmý pohled" in Czech)
