[General] narrow pea-stick figure

Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to give me a leg up with the interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

Instead of which she had a narrow pea-stick figure; a ridiculous little face, beaked like a bird's.

pea-stick figure = rawboned figure

rawboned = having little flesh on the bones; gaunt; relatively thin with prominent bone structure; also heavy-framed and rugged but not attractively built; having a bony or gaunt physique

gaunt = thin and bony

It's not an expression I have come across, but it sounds similar to bean-pole, used for people who are very skinny.
