    Question I never stray too far from the sidewalk


    Because of you, I never stray too far from the sidewalk.

    The above sentence is from the song "Because of you", and I don't understand it's meaning.

    I stay where it is safe and where people usually go.

    It's a metaphorical meaning -- I don't take chances or risks or try new things or do things most people don't do.
    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
