Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?
"This young lady is your friend? Miss Sharp, I am very happy to see you. Have you and Emmy been quarrelling already with Joseph, that he wants to be off?"
be off = leave, depart
