I'm an Italian translator, ever learning student of your language :)
I was watching an interview to John Grisham -Barnes and Nobles site dated 4th april 2008, also on youtube.
I understood everything but a tiny bit at the beginning.
"If there is something I hope my readers come away with when the read my books... they are just being entertained.
What does he say between "books" and "they are being entertained"?
Can a native tell me?
I'm really stubborn and listened to it again and again...but in vain.
thanks a lot

You didn't provide a link or give the time he says it, so I had to listen to John Grisham talk for over two minutes.

I eventually found the correct link here.

"If there's one thing I hope readers come away with when they read my books... ah... first and foremost is just to be entertained."

Really, Grisham? I thought you were aiming for high-brow literature.

Hope that helps.

Very many thanks
I did not know whether I could post a link, so I did not. thank you very much for taking the trouble to find it.
Some forums accept neither youtube links nor official site ones.
You really were of great help. And what a prompt reply!
I'm a tranlator and I never stop learning....

No worries mate.

In my browers (Opera, Chrome and IE) there are buttons above the box where you type.

  1. Copy the link you want so you can paste it.
  2. Select the text you want to make a link.
  3. Click the link button - it looks a like Earth with a chain in front.
  4. Paste the link.
  5. Bob's your uncle!
