How can one improve his/her vocabulary ?

Please share your views and methods by which a person can improve his/her vocabulary so that one can express with ease.

Not a teacher

There are heaps of ways to work on it. Why not think of one thing which could include or contain other stuff? For instance, there are plenty of vocabularies related to the words "house", "sports", "internet" and so on.
