Is 'shocking pink' a popular phrase in western countries?
Thank you so much.

It's sometimes used to describe a shade of the colour pink.

Reasonably so. More in the 80s than now. Hot pink is another way to say it.

My bridesmaids wore it. They have all since forgiven me.

Panicmonger,

Here is a cultural note that may interest you.

In the United States, most males avoid being associated

with the color pink.

For example, most men would never wear a pink shirt.

If they did, some unkind people would whisper that they

liked romantic attachments only with their own gender.

Thank you

"Shocking pink" or "fluorescent pink" are both commonly used to describe that blinding shade of pink. (Barb, we need to see pictures of those dresses!)

In eastern countries, a man wearing a pink shirt will be called sissy.

It was 1990. That was ALMOST the 80s. They looked nice with the black tuxedos, though!
Here's the crazy thing - my sister was able to borrow her dress because a friend of hers wore the exact same dress for a different wedding. I was not the only bride loony enough to want them. (My iPod is full of 80s music too. I'm stuck there.)

I hope the black tuxedos were set off with suitably floppy fringes to do justice to the pink. ;-)

No, those were very normal tuxedos. And the dresses were very normal for the era! (I still like pink and black together. Want to borrow my B-52s CD?)

I have my own and still play them. ;-)
