Dear Sir/ Maddam

Happy new year!
I have a strange problem with spelling. My dictation is getting worse maybe due to writing my language (persian) in English Alphabet. Would you please show me the way I can improve my spelling to write a better essay in my IELTS exam. Also to avoid mis-spelling in my listening and reading both. I am really worry about this problem and I do really need your kind supervision.
for your kind attention, I will sit the IELTS exam again on 26th of February.

Wish you a verry blessing year.

***** NOT A TEACHER *****

Ms. Javadpour,

(1) Good luck to you on February 26. I am sure that you will do

very well.

(2) Learning to spell well takes a long time. In fact,

there are some words (that are not used too frequently) that

even well-educated native speakers have to look up in a dictionary

in order to be certain.

(3) I have two suggestions:

(a) Have a friend dictate a few sentences to you every day.

Then correct your mistakes and see which words you need to

work on. Little by little you will notice great improvement.

(b) The following advice is very old but true: read, read, and

read. After many years, your eyes will become accustomed to

how a word looks. Your mind will tell you: "Hey, that's not right!"

Many native speakers do not spell well. Why? Probably one reason

is that they are not readers.

THANK YOU

If your performance in dictation declined when you started using the English alphabet, I guess that means your Persian script is phonetic. If you're using a keyboard that has the English alphabet, just spending time in the forum will help - as long as you write and don't just read. Seven weeks of regular writing and having your efforts discussed should be a perfect preparation for your exam! ;-)

PS And I wish you a very [one R] happy ['blessing' is a noun] New Year!
