[Vocabulary] What do you call the thing on which a cellphone is placed which charging?

It's a kind of charger.

Not like the common types, which are connected to cell phones with leads, the thing, of which the name I want to know, is like a base. In such a base, there is a hole, in which a specific phone fits. When people want to charge a phone, they can put it into this hole.

On a side note, it's really a shame I make an unnecessary mistake in my title through sheer carelessness.

In our house we call it the cordless phone rather than the cellphone or mobile phone.

When not in use it sits on its charger, though the handbook calls it the base station.

That sounds a bit heavy to me; a laptop has a docking station. Smaller mobile phones just have chargers; the phone just lies on the kitchen table while it's charging ;-) But bigger ones (iPhone, Android, 3G, all that stuff - 'smartphones') sometimes have a 'cradle', I think. I have an old iPaq (Apple weren't the first to use the 'iP...' format, Compaq were ;-)) that has a cradle. ['Cordless phones' are a whole 'nother thing; they're wireless, but virtually tethered to a house's 'land line' - not like a 'mobile phone' (or 'cell', in some parts of the world)]

Cradle sounds good.

An iPhone/iPod/iTouch docking station will charge it, certainly, but is designed to play the music/videos that are on the device.

Most of our conference rooms have wireless keyboards and mice, and I'm trying to remember what they call the charging devices. It's not chargers... and it may well be cradles.
