If "he" leaves next summer, Arsenal will lose £23,000,000. (I have no idea what this is about)Hi,
There is more at stake than the £23m they stand to lose if he walks away for nothing next summer. Arsenal's prestige is worth infinitely more than that.
What does the bold part mean?

Yes, they are set to lose £23 million. What does "stand to lose" mean?
"Set to lose"?
Thanks a lot
It could be that his contract only lasts until next summer. They do not want to sell him to a rival in the premier league, but if they do not sell him now, for £23m, he will be able to leave the team next summer anyway - and they will not receive anything for him if he moves to another team then. This is probably more a football question than an English question but, out of curiosity, why are they going to lose £23million?
Will they only lose £23million if he "walks away" ie he leaves and they don't sell him to another team for £23million? Or is it that they think he brings in £23million in ticket sales and sponsorship by simply playing for the team and it is that potential income that will be lost if he leaves?
