Hey everyone,
i'm worried about an important task. I still don't understand this Task from an English-Book:

"Use the words and phrases from1a to complete the sentences."

Words and Phrases :
1. know or realize something
2. make somebody want to do something
3. communicate with somebody
4. meet and spend time with people in order to enjoy yourself
5. be treated worse than other people
6. disagree strongly with sb./sth.

Sentences to complete :

1. The advertising industry ... of young people's interest in the Internet.
2. A cruel experiment proved that babies die when no one ... with them.
3. If you have trouble ... at parties, prepare some topics for small talk.
4. Thousands of people ... the G8 summits.
5. There's a good way to ... oneself: always believe in your own strenght.
6. The constitution prohibits... people on the grounds of race, gender or religion.

Please help me !

Thanks

It's very badly explained but I think I've worked it out.

I think that the first thing you have to do is find a word which fits the definition for the first 6. For example "meet and spend time with people in order to enjoy yourself" = "socialise". Then you look for a sentence where a variation of the word "socialise" is missing. That would be sentence 3, giving you:

If you have trouble socialising at parties, prepare some topics for small talk.

***** NOT A TEACHER *****

Taking a cue from esmr's excellent explanation, then maybe (maybe!) No. 6

could be something like:

The Constitution prohibits discriminating against people because of race, gender, or religion.

I think you should try first. I think it might be easier if you do it backwards. Look at the sentences with the missing words first and find a word that you think fits in the gap.

Then look at the definitions and see if you can find a definition that fits the word!
