Hello,
I came across the term "qualitative and quantitative analysis" quite a few times now. What exactly does it mean?
Any answers appreciated!

A qualitative analysis describes the object by its characteristics or qualities.

A quantitative analysis is only interested in how many- the quantity.

Thanks for the quick reply J&K. It seems to be a very common phrase and I somehow thought there was a little bit more to it, because it sounds so vague to me. So basically it describes the numbers and characteristics of something, just in a formal way?

Qualitative things about me: blue eyes, average build, light skin...
Quantitative things about me: 179 cm, 81 kg, 42 years old....

Qualitative things about me: Handsome, intelligent charming, witty.
Quantitative things about me: IQ: 257; Higher degrees: 16; Nobel prizes: 3

Thanks a lot, I think I understand the difference between 'qualitative' and 'quantitative', I just thought it might have a more specific meaning when used in "qualitative and quantitative analysis" as i've come across that expression in a lot of scientific texts. It just seemed more complex than only describing characteristics and statistics, but apparently that's all they were about then. Thanks everyone!
