"Gas" is a the same as "gasoline" and is a liquid made from petroleum.
But what is another type of fuel that is in the form of gas (not liquid).
Is it CNG? For example "I went to the gas station to get CNG."
Is that ok?

Compressed natural gas is indeed a gas (as opposed to LNG, which is liquefied). It requires a special engine to run and is only found for sale in special locations, not in the common gas station.

Propane, or LP gas is another gas, but that is used for cooking and heating, not for vehicles.

LPG (propane) is used in vehicles in the UK and in India.

So is it correct to say "I went to the gas station to get LPG/CNG."?
Or is there another way to sat it?

I'd be more likely to say, "I went to the garage to top up/fill up".

And in BE we fill up with petrol, not gas.
