I read in dictionary used when someone has said or done something silly but I don't get it , I need examples may you explain it to me.
also What are you up to? means what are you doing?

Thanks in advance

I don't get it either. I would not use "what are you like?" in that situation. Where did you see it?

at course and also in dictionary.
What are you like? (ALSO What is she/he like?) UK INFORMAL.
used when someone has said or done something silly.
I don't understand also. :)

Maybe someone from the UK can shed some light.

 We say 'What are you like?' in a mock scornful/horrified/surprised tone of voice when somebody has done something silly, cheeky, surprising, or out of character.

A: 'I told my dad to stuff his curfew'.

B: (aghast) 'You never! What are you like?'

C: 'The teacher asked me for a word beginning with 'c' and I said "seaside".'

D: (amused) 'You cheeky devil! What are you like?'

E: 'I was fed up with being picked on so I kicked him in the nads.'

F: (surprised) 'I don't believe it! What are you like?'
