1. I wonder if anyone can help me solve this problem.

Do you see any difference in meaning between #1 and #2?
Because #1 use simple present, it seems to me that the action "wondering" is repeated. Do you agree? Thanks.

If this is said as a request, the progressive form may come across as more diffident. I was wondering ... would be even more diffident.
