The couch was credited with putting the team back on the rails.
Does Credit means "to arrange" or "be responsible" for turning the team back to the proper situation or perhaps non?!

People thought he was responsible for it, and since it was a good thing (getting the team "back on track") he was given credit for it.

I hope the OP meant coach and not couch

I didn't even see that!

Thank You Barb_D and probus for responding. Yes It was my mistake, The correct word is "coach"

I rather like the idea of a couch training a sports team. It's reminiscent of the phrase "armchair sportsperson" - someone who loves sport but only if they are watching it on TV from the comfort of their chair/couch. There's no danger of them actually getting any exercise themselves.

Gee! I'm developing something new by my mistakes!
