Dear members and teachers

Did I use the Phrase STAND CORRECTED properly in this?

I stand corrected the followings:

1) You need a subject for a question too, but a question begins with an auxiliary verb.

2) The subject normally comes after the verb, but not always, for example.

Here comes the rain

Rarely I have seen such a beautiful sight

Regards.

Thanks MikeNewYork for your reply.

1) [strike]May[/strike] Can this phrase be used in spoken as well as in written English?

2) [strike]May[/strike] Can this phrase be used at the beginning as well as [strike]in[/strike] at the end of a sentence?

[strike]My regards[/strike] Unnecessary

"I stand corrected" is used more commonly in spoken English than it is in written English. It is usually the response to someone else correcting something you have said.

Person A: There are 363 days left until the end of 2014.
Person B: No, there are only 362 days left now!
Person A: I stand corrected. You're right, of course. It's January 3rd so there are 362 days left.

Thanks emsr2d2

Can you please, give examples when STAND CORRECTED must be used at the beginning and at the end of a sentence?

I don't think there's any rule- it's a matter of choice and personal preference.

Thank you Tdol and those who replied.

Now I'm cleared how to use the phrase STAND CORRECTED

Now I'm [STRIKE]cleared[/STRIKE] clear on how to use the phrase STAND CORRECTED.

As an extra note, I don't see how you could use "stand corrected" at the beginning of a sentence, unless it was preceded by "I/You/He etc". The phrase "I stand corrected" is a somewhat set phrase so I suppose you could say that the words "stand corrected" almost always appear at the end of a sentence.
