junior high school's friend

One of my students, whose favorite sport is tennis, wrote in his writing assignment:

1. I want to fight in game with junior high school's friend in high school.
2. I want to like tennis after ten years.

#1 is wrong though I understand what he meant. My suggestion would be:
"In high school/When I become a high school student, I want to play/have a tennis match against/with my friends from my junior high school days."

Is my suggestion better? (I feel it's a bit wordy.)

I'm not sure about #2. I mean I know what he was trying to say, and it is understandable in Japanese.
"He's 16 now, and he loves tennis. When he becomes 26, he wants to have the same affection for the sport as he does now." is what he meant.

Does #2 (=the original) work?
