Dear teachers,
In America, do you use "grade" or "class"?
For example: I teach English to students of grade 1 to 10. I teach English to students of class 1 to 10.
In our country, sometimes we use both. But which is commonly used in America?

Thanks.

Grade.

First grade through tenth grade is much more common than "grade 1 to 10."

(That would be a very unusual age range to teach. 9th - 12 grade is high school.)

I teach English to students of first grade through tenth grade.

In BE it's 'year'.

'I teach English to children in years four to six.'

If I want to exclude fifth year, is it correct to say 'I teach English to children in years four and six.'?
