Does it make sense to add an object to the sentence" "I ate very well"?

For example, "I ate the food very well"

I am a Non-NEST (Non-Native English Speaking Teacher).

I think this particular sentence doesn't make sense if said by an adult. I can only imagine a little child saying it to his or her mother and waiting for her approval. :)

No – it doesn't make sense. 'I ate very well' means 'I had a very substantial and satisfying meal.'
