Would a native say this to a friend who's halfway around the world:

"Isn't it like 4AM in the morning over there right now?" "What are you guys doing up?"

This native would not say "like", but others might. "AM in the morning" is redundant. Pick one or the other.

"Xam in the morning" is one of those tautologous phrases which seems to be rather prevalent these days and many people don't seem to understand why it's wrong.

I find "Isn't it ..." with "right now" a little tautologous too. However, between friends, we speak very informally and don't worry in the slightest about grammatical correctness. I'm sure you'll hear very similar sentences to the two you posted quite frequently between native speakers. If we were concerned about grammar, we would say "Isn't it 4am there? Why are you all still up?" or something very similar.

It sounds natural enough to me because people would say it. The unnecessary parts are common enough in the everyday speech of many people. It won't win any awards for style, but it does sound like the kind of thing many native speakers would use.
