    the more people get older

    Hello.
I think the sentence below sounds odd and it's bad English.

The more people get older the worse their eyesight becomes.

    My sentence is:
The older people get the worse their eyesight becomes

    Which one is better?
    Thanks.
Please, correct all my mistakes. I should know English perfectly and if you show me my mistakes I will achieve my dream a little bit faster. A lot of thanks.

Not a teacher nor a native speaker.

Re: the more people get older

The second one, with a full stop (period).

Does 'more' refer to the number of people instead of the degree of being old?

    Not a teacher.

Re: the more people get older

I agree on the second one, but I'd put a comma after get.

That doesn't seem very likely to me- eyesight deteriorates with age and not because of the numbers of older people.

'The more people get older, the more elderly services are needed.'
Does 'more' refer to the number of people here?

    Not a teacher.

Re: the more people get older

"As more people get older, more services for the elderly are needed." Now it does.

If you change something enough, it will refer to anything.

Re: the more people get older

I can say with a degree of certainty that you will hear things like "The more people get fat ..." rather than "The fatter people get ..." in BrE. The intended meaning is the same.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
